Books to Movies: Adaptions that Won My Heart

I've been Falling Into Books this last week, prompted by the challenge hosted by I Am A Reader and Clean Wholesome Romance. It feels like a total luxury to be focusing on reading now that I've finished with manuscript revisions, and it's with a few trusted readers.
Today's challenge calls for finding a favorite book that has been made into a movie. The first book/movie combo that comes to mind is the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (an all-time fav), but I'm going to stretch myself here since that one is a favorite of so many. I also really enjoyed Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts as an Oprah's Book Club read when it first came out. The movie, starring Natalie Portman and Ashley Judd, was produced in 2000, and followed the book perfectly, from the character portrayals to the nuances of sarcasm, setting, and pacing.
What's your favorite book-to-movie example? Join the challenge today and enter the rafflecopter at I Am a Reader.
